I'm not really a pro in photoshop but I'm quite a person who is particular about beautiful website design. I've done a little of photoshop here and there and know the basics and stuff. However, I'm stuck at this level. I want to go to the next level where I master the ability of producing great designs. I'm talking about designs like http://www.designgururyan.com/portfolio.html Any idea where can i acquire or learn such powerful design skills? The normal photoshop tutorial doesn't teach you about how to produce such great designs.
I spend hours on photoshop ******* around with stuff an it always looks rubbish. My mate in argentina is a design genius and does stuff in 15 minutes that take me two days. I believe art is a skill you either have or you don't and it translates to photoshop. If you are a good artist you just need to learn the technicals.
I think i have a rather good designing skill but i'm just finding ways to up my level. I mean if you see other sites that have beautiful designs, if you can duplicate the same thing, you will be half way there. I'm not trying to duplicate, but learning how to duplicate things would be a great start.
Ok, first of all you have to discover what your problem is.... Can you come up with the ideas but just not "put them down on paper" so to speak using photoshop or can you create your ideas perfectly but they just arent that great when you see them in the flesh? If it is the former then you have a technical skills issue which can be fixed with a combination of training or experience If it is the later then you have a creative skills issue which is much much greater a problem. There are training courses and experience does help but many will consider this much more an ability you have to be "born with" than something you can pick up in later life.
