How much do you worry about the way your site looks when you incorporate adsense on it? I always stumble upon sites that once you get there, all you see is ads and you have to scroll down to finally get to the content. I hate the way these sites look but i'm sure they make alot of money. Some of these sites have great content but i get turned off by them quickly. Does anyone feel the same way? I guess its all personal preference. I guess I'm just a stickler for how my site looks.
depends on if you are designing for the user or for the dollar. Any great site should be designed for the end user first, and for advertising second.
You can actually walk the thin line in between the two. design for end user then optimize for adsense.
Treat yourself as a potential visitor to your site - if you think your site is too fugly with the ads, chances are that other visitors will feel the same way too. You can optimise your ads in such a way that they are subtle for your regular visitors but prominent for search engine visitors for example. With Wordpress, you can play with the placement when a post is viewed on the front page, on its own or in a category listing. Many ways to go and as always, use channels!
I agree, if I don't like the look of the ads on my site then I guess the visitors will feel the same way. You are your own jugde!
