    Hi:

Welcome from Las Vegas! It was up to 91 today which is a bit high for this time of year but very low humidity, sunny and beautiful. Moved here two years ago - left Miami with its high humidity, sinus headaches and hurricanes - good timing! :)

    Cordially,

Don't you get sick of the heat? I have lived in the desert for 9 years now and I hate the summer time. Can't really go outside too much until after dark and even then it's hot as heck.

    Thank God winter is coming!

Want good weather? Everyone can move into Shawn's house in San Diego.

I wanted to sleep under the truck but there was not enough room to roll over.

San Diego is the only place on earth with near perfect weather year around.

Florida is so hot in the summer that you wish death on yourself many times, not to mention the bugs biting you and the nats that like to fly up your nose, in your ears and in your eyes.

The best time to come to Florida is right now as it is cooling down a bit, most folks that have money stay here in the winter and go back north in April.

Welcome to the forum DD :)

I agree with San Diego for the weather. I lived there for six months a couple years back, in Point Loma, right by the water.

SD is great but I did not like the city. I know as far as cities go its a smaller one but homeless people everywhere, crime was bad. I caught a guy trying to jack my truck. Then don't get me started on traffic.

After six months my wife and I had it. We relocated back to Palm Springs.

Homeless people everywhere, damm that sounds good to me, I will not have to pay rent or mortgage any longer.

Just spread out a tarp, get a sleeping bag and a shopping cart and pick up aluminum cans. :D

The weather is what draws the homeless in, they can live outside most of the year.

Same problem in Florida, since they can stay outside in the winter time it is ideal for the homeless.

    Sad side note....

I knew of a city in the high desert area of CA that gave homeless people a ride and a couple of bucks to a nearby town.

This was there plan to combat the homeless problem. :(

I'm not sure if it was just residents or someone from the city. It soon got out and I think it has stopped, it was about 9 years ago now.

It is not so funny if it is you, it is though out on the dusty trail.

When I was living in Gainesville, FL there were a ton of homeless rainbow hippies. Most are alcoholics and will live anywhere, I had one guy ask me if he could live under my house.

Problem is even those that get checks will not use it for rent, they spend it all to become zombies for a couple days for the big monthly buzz.

I knew of one dude that carried a portable military type tent on his back and would set up home anywhere, in your back yard if you would let him.

Some of these guys will not work if you offer them a job, they would rather panhandle :D

They call it flying a sign, you know those folks that sit out in front of the shopping center with a sign. It's a racket for them, I had one man that was bragging about sending his old lady out to "fly a sign", he mentioned that she could make up to $250.00 a day in that hustle.

Sometimes he would just sit in the car and watch, getting drunk while watching his old lady beg for money.

Great gig if one can get the work :)

In case you couldn't tell, I LOVE Las Vegas! People are very nice, no road rage, store clerks and bank tellers are courteous and cordial. As long as the summer stays in the low 100's, I don't mind because I go from an a/c house to an a/c car to an a/c store or casino. It does not stay hot for very long...

We have four seasons here which we did not have in Miami. It gets cold but not bitter cold. Just cold enough for wearing of boots and pretty winter clothing. Low, low humidity! We have more sunny days here than in Florida. :)

The employment situation here is not good but since I work at home, I do not have to deal with that.

    Cordially,

Finally starting to cool down a bit. Today I think it was in the mid 90's. :)

The Palm Springs area employment is heavily waited upon tourism, similar to LV but most tourism comes in the winter only. Hardly any big business here, mosstly service business.

    Hi All:
The weather today is high 70's, sunny (of course) with a light breeze. The AC is off (hooray) and the patio doors are open. I have my computer set up so I see the patio/back yard with plants and trees and play soft jazz on the radio. Our average AC bill is $270 for approx. 2,400 sq. ft.

Miami was beautiful in the winter. In the summer though - sometimes I would get bitten by those horrible little bugs "no see 'ems". The next day, little angry red welts that would itch like crazy for several days. Our 7th floor condo was right on the water and I miss that but "Life is a trade-off". Also, I miss my dentist. He was honest with reasonable prices, a great sense of humor, fast and painless. I had hoped he would get so fed up with hurricanes he would move out here. Oh well........

    Cordially,

Since we're talking about weather, I should add that today was a beautiful sunny fall day in Vancouver. Long sleeves, long pants temperature but not cold. The leaves are all red, orange, and yellow and the sky is blue. :)
