Hi, I have a (maybe silly) question. If I have a site with i.e. the following content text " blablablabla" but in my description meta tag I have "huhuhuhuhu"...which is more important to Google? Will they both show up on searches or one of them won't? Thanks, have a nice day
both of them are require. you should have pretty good well optimized description for the particular page. content is the king. and never forget title tag to get rank higher in SERP's.
Your description MUST contain your keywords of the page. It also must be very appealing for customers to click. You know why? Go to google and search for a term. When you go through the results (list of sites), you will notice that each result has 3 sections. The first one is the link to the site. This is your title tag. The below description is taken from the Description tag. The content also very important. You must match your description and content with the main keyword(s) of the page.
Google won't use the keywords in your META description tag for ranking purposes, but they will show up if the META description is used as the content snippet in a search result. The best way to optimize your META description tag is to write an accurate, clear, concise description of the current page and include a clear call to action in the description in less than 160 characters. Of course, your keywords should be used in there as appropriate.
Because it's what people go to a Web site to read. The content. Where is the information a searcher will be looking for going to be at? The page content or the META tags?
Your description should contain your keywords and a "call to action". Make it something that will entice searchers to click when they read it.
This tag is important because if used correctly your description will be placed into the snippet field of the search results. Around 45% of searchers make the decision to visit your website based on the snippet information. It is important that you right a quality description.
from everything that I have read over the last year or so the content of your site is most important but having a good description tag provides your possible visitor with a reason to click on your link.
Content is king but good content must be read. That is why the description tag is so important. If the tag includes your targeted keywords, Then Google will use that description in the snippet field. Since 45% of searchers decide to visit any website based on the description, you need to have a well written description.
