I recently changed my home page meta title, description and keywords (not URL) for my homepage. I was in the top five pages for all of my major keywords before this change. Here's the problem... I fell off to like the 30th page for the same results and the description is not showing up on the searched page. Just the title and URL, it has been this way for about two to three weeks. Is there something I did wrong? New title and description is showing fine on Yahoo and MSN on first and second page. Although it did fall and then rebound better than before the change. Any help on this issue is much appreciated
Sometimes when you make changes to your web page your rankings will fluctuate. If most of the information stayed the same on the web page then your rankings should return to normal after a while. However, this might take some time.
I suggest you wait for some time. Hopefully you will see the description and you may get back to your old place in SERPs.
How long ago did you make the changes? it can take a few days sometimes for new meta info to show. Do you have fresh content on the pages? that would help too
About two to three weeks ago.... Yes, always adding new new content. What we did is change our site from Homestead to Joomla (site is nearly two years old). All pages kept same URL..... the ONLY thing we changed was the meta data title, description, and keywords on the homepage. Also I just noticed it is not cached.... Could I be in the sandbox maybe?
when ever you make a MAJOR change to meta title and/or description or other major changes on a particular change ...... >> you first and for many months get OFF the serps way down the waiting line. for a LOOONG time! I experienced that with a few pages I fully redesigned maybe kind of G penalty or special sandbox - even for very old and established sites. the "penalty" makes sense. it avoids people re-re-reoptimizing pages every few weeks until they are #1 serps for a page changing BACK would be NO solution - establishing a firm and steady everlasting page is the key only minor changes/spell corrections/adding or removing single words may survive or directly improve your serps
Hi, the same meta description you place as a alt tag.when SE crawls cache this alt tag and will show in search results.
OK, this is starting to get really weird to me. My site just ranked back in pretty much the same positions before I fell out on google. But still no description
it definitely would help to KNOW your URL else any further advice just is guess-work but nothing precise and professional!
i face a problem like that , but for me i have description for me pages but this description is my blog info ( description not my post description ) .
You should check the format of meta and wait for the next cached. You will definitely get the description into google result pages. Thanks
