DEPRAVITY LURKING: How's that for a porn blocker landing page?

    Hey gang,

    Being somewhat of faith there's indeed some wisdom to the masses,
    I'd like to know what you good people think of this landing page:

    http://slices-of-life.com/go/blockporn/

    So far it has converted only once, after getting... I'm-not-sure, maybe about 100 hops.

    Personally, I think it's a decent enough attention grabber - straight and succinct. I'm probably sticking to this angle, but I might rephrase the written content. Well...

    As far as relevant advice goes, someone pointed out the copy is perhaps too humorous to be taken seriously.

    Does that sound like a sensible remark?
    Do you have any ideas that might help improve conversion?

    edit:
    I looked up the stats for this landing page:
    124 hops, 3 OFI, 1 OFS, 1 sale.

    Not so bright, eh? But maybe traffic quality just wasn't so good.

    It is an interesting spin... and if it works, or if you can tweak it to get it to convert better then keep it, but my thoughts are that it is vastly different from other "porn blocker review" sites and landing pages... basically why try and reinvent the wheel?, if I am in doubt I always look to the leaders in the niche to see what they are doing and how - type it "porn blocker review" and see the sites that are paying for clicks / are in the google top 20... see how they layout their sites, what they say.. they look pretty different to yours at the minute, thats not to say yours won't work, but with your landing page being so different to everything else sometimes this is not a great thing..

    Funny presentation, I like it.

    Converting 1/100 hops isn't going to clear ROI on a PPC campaign, but 1/100 hits could.

    1/100+ conversion is not worth anyone's times. Come back to who is looking for pron blockers... parents, schools, etc

    When I do a review site or a mini sales letter, I open with a story, what my problem was, how I struggled for an answer, and what finally worked for me.

    Taking a comical approach to something serious. I don't see how you could do worse......

    Where is your email capture?

    Also your URL carries no authority. Pornblockerreviews.com or something like that would def help conversions, buy the domain 4.99, put in on your shared hosting, could have doubled your sales just from that.

    There's a lot of good advice here, keep it coming!

    I still think this is a good angle (showing there's a lot of shameless content out there disguised as children's cartoons), but yeah maybe it'll be a good idea toning down on the spunk for the pre-sales copy. And yeah, I'll be putting a email capture in there before I begin to do a little PPC testing. (-;

    Anything else? Hmm I think you guys just gave me a great idea to make this look more serious while sticking to that very same format.

    Yeah, its definitely a different approach and it may be a good idea. I would just like you said "tone it down" a little bit. Not use so many of those large cartoon images. It almost makes your page seem a bit inappropriate.

    An idea would be to take 4 of those pictures and turn them into one smaller square picture divided by four. And say that "nowadays they even have cartoon pornography that your child could easily mistakenly click on." Followed by the image.

    That's just what I would do. But yeah either way I would tone it down. :)

    @supervendor: I'm sure it was a mistake, alright. Maybe you should get this porn blocker software, to keep yourself from accidentally going astray into the depraved fringes of cyberspace? (-;

    Anyway, I've just finished redoing the landing page:

    http://slices-of-life.com/go/blockporn/

    Now I feel it's a bit to wordy for a pre-sales pitch, but I guess I'm ready to take it for a spin - just as soon as I find an appropriate domain for it.

    Regarding the actual landing page, though... are there any additional thoughts, anyone?

    Have you split test a "regular" landing page vs this cartoon style? get a script that switches landing pages, set up different tracking Id's etc. It's a quick way to find out whats working.
