What are you talking about, "companies steal from us" omg you have such a poor grip on right and wrong, what right do you have to steal something, you have the right not to buy something if you don't like the price, but theft is theft so using your logic, if you go to the grocery store and they are charging $10 for a steak and you think that is priced too high, you think the store is stealing from you???? and then you think you can just steal it because the price is too high???
well i wouldnt hold your breath, the law is not going to be changed because sharing a tracker file is not against the law as there is no copyrighted content held within the tracker file
well, you will see, because changes are coming so using your logic it should be fine to link to child porn as long as there is none in the linking file
there is a difference between a cow and a cd did you just read what you wrote? how can you link without a link? child porn is illegal music is not
Demonoid ruled... too bad they are still down as of this writing. I felt safer sharing on there because it was a private network, invite-only and not just any jo-shmoe could get on there. Also lots of uncompressed music and high quality files. I do hope they come back.
I'm actually glad that the website was shut down. Software companies and music companies as well are loosing MILLIONS due to websites like this with millions of users who are ILLEGAL downloading things that they know they shouldn't. This is a good step toward the future. I will like to see other torrent trackers suck as moviex, and the pirate bay shut down as well. Theres no reason why people should be allowed to illegally download things from the internet. Just my .2 cents
Piracy is what makes things grow. How do you think the original playstation became popular and not the nitendo. Because of piracy those who could not afford were able to have a playstation and buy pirated games at a fraction of the cost and not at full price. Do you think microsoft would be as popular now if you could not use a pirated version. Piracy is not right especially in the corporate world but at home and in your own private life, piracy can help corporations grow. The best promotion is word of mouth especially if it is something for free.
I would have thought piracy would reduce the price of dvds and such, but it hasn't. Until they are lowered to reasonable prices I will continue getting them for free.
best alternative I have found is www.bitsoup.org. Unfortunately its only small but the torrents that are there are of the highest quality... normally higher than demonoid. They require an upload ratio of .8 but you can pay 20 and get 150 gig free uploads (you can download like 170 gig without uplaoding anything)
The tracker .torrent file just connects the seeders and the leechers. It doesnt have any other data - hence filesharing by torrents cant be illegal. Its similar to sharing a DVD with a friend - in this case its just done over the internet rather than face to face. Atleast thats what I feel and I dont care about anyone else's opinion. I know all of this has already been said in the thread, but eff you I'll say it again.
You think so eh? Well the rest of the legal world doesn't agree with you... why do you think that the thief sites have to hide in very few countries to get away with their stealing? Try starting a torrent site like that in the U.S.A. or Canada etc and see how long you last before the law is down on you (and they sue you for every dollar you will ever earn in your lifetime). Filestealing is wrong, regardless of the laws, anyways... theft is theft... the morality of stealing doesn't change just because you can get away with pulling the scam or not.
Thanks for telling me about this! It is a shame the site has to go, the domain will be worth loads if they decide to sell it !
well, I was caught in the UK when I downloaded Sex in the city for my sister via torrent One week later some letter arrived from my provider, they were notified by Paramount official letter with my ip adress, etc. eMule is the best.
Yes corporations steal from us. Some company sells you an extended warranty, and all of a sudden, your item is not covered because it does not cover whatever it was, even if it was just as expensive as the item itself. Companies steal all the time behind your back when you're not looking. They'll mark something up 25% and then mark down %5 and call it a sale. I have all the rights to alll my music. Its not stealing in my case. I just don't want to take out the CDs from my car and throw them onto my PC. Did I say steal a steak from a grocery store? No! I don't steal physical items. I buy them, and if a steak costs $10, I'd not buy it, and go out on that $10 and get a lot more worth out of it. If I had $10, I'd find the best possible way to spend it. Plus, I'd stop shopping if the store I was at was charing the most, and that store would probabaly go out of business.
