    the end of America?

lol, actually this type of voting is common for American politics. As a rule (but not hard and fast) we prefer a republican pres with an opposing congrefs. Or vice versa... been like that for 150 years now for the opposing party rule.

    Who knows!?

Nancy said she wouldn't go for impeachments...but I don't know if she'll be speaker of the house or that will stick.

I'm hoping they don't try to work together on 'comphresive immigration'....blah.

Spending might be hedged a bit, since bills won't be getting through all that often.

Hopefully they don't go insane with Iraq policy. The house controls spending, so who knows where that will go.

On the other hand, maybe the repubs will get the clue and go back to their base...insteady of electing elites. It's two more years of gridlock. As long as it's not gridlock on important issues, then it's not as bad. *shrug*

This song came to mind when I saw it, but I certainly don't feel fine :( In fact with Nancy Pelosi and her "San Francisco" politics  coming to town might it be the first sign of the apocalypse? :D

Funny unemployment is way down, the economy is way up, and the country is showing it's ignorance by listening to what the "boob tube" tells them to do, but what can you expect when the youth of America are ingrained throug nickelodeon (owned by MTV) than to MTV where people like these rappers and "singers" spout off on things they know NOTHING about... Than they move to Jon stewart... Eh its 4am Im going back to bed. :p

True, American politics have always been divided especially since Reconstruction. What all politicians must realize is that the mandate that they believe they are receiving from voters has a very short tail to it. In other words, the new Congress has to make good on their stuff in the first six months or else.

I believe President Bush will come out of this okay, but it will be interesting to hear of just how the new Congress will handle Iraq and immigration. Taxes will probably go up which really stinks as the economy is on a roll.

Kind of fun to watch what the pundits and prognosticators are saying post-election --- I haven't seen so much scrambling to get a handle on the news in such a long time.

Bush is still president. New presidential elections will be in another two years. This election was for local, house, senate seats.

Funny thing is the new democrates are more conservative then the current republicans it seems. If they are not corporate whores and actually get something done, Bush can only lock up 2008 for them if he arrogantly vetos anything progressive.

Interestingly, a number of key Democratic candidates were quite conservative this time around. I was impressed with Ford from Tennessee as his vision for America runs contrary to what the establishment dictates. He lost, however.

Without a doubt, that's the most hilarious response I've seen yet!

    "but, but, but voting fraud!"

    Time will tell.

Both the President and the Democratic majority in the House hopefully will take some steps to be less partisan. We will see over time.

Historically it appears that the country runs better with effective checks and balances on the branches of government.

I hope a first step is that the partisan rhetoric drops lower from both sides. That is necessary to develop compromise to tackle tough issues.
