Obama cool as he is wants to work with Republicans provided they agree to raise taxes on the rich as well.

All I can say is, you have a very strange definition of patriotism. Refusal to kowtow to the president's efforts to "fundamentally change the United States of America" sounds like one of the most patriotic things a person can do.

 

Wedge politics at its worst. And Australia has followed the US lead with our right wing loony Opposition refusing to acknowledge anything the government does as being worthy and screaming they will reverse everything when they are elected. We are starting to see signs that this is backfiring. The Left govern on reform and feed the disadvantaged the Right govern on fear and feed the wealthy. The US would see our right wing loony party as lefties. We see the GOP as "you gotta be kidding me, you REALLY believe that!" We would lock up your Tea Party.

I'm sure Hugo Chavez summed up those who opposed his policies in much the same way. Nothing like calling people unpatriotic for disagreeing with your views.Its very McCarthy like. Maybe if you call them unpatriotic enough, you can get them to vote for Cap and Trade or late term abortions. Simply demonize and threaten them and I'm sure you can get what you want. This, and the random accusations of racism have gotten to the point it is simply pathetic. Its a respect killer.

We love your Tea Party republicans here. Standing shoulder to shoulder protecting the country and waving the constitution in the air. Very patriotic. Senseless stupid ideas for sure but they make our politicians look great.

So what words did you mention "fiscal responsibility". Now which underregulated country (AKA Small government) under the watch of Republicans and populated by greedy bankers (AKA personal liberty) caused the biggest financial collapse in the world's history sending entire countries into recession, causing millions of uninvolved citizens of the world to suffer through corporate collapses, unemployment and loss of savings.

You mentioned "small government" - Google GFC and see what a lack of regulations causes. Show me small government and I'll show you corporations running roughshod over private citizens.

You mentioned "personal liberty" - whatever - can't be bothered with that rot.
