Good News for America! Democrats are going to present a bill in Congress which helpful for Americans during public health emergency. According to this bill in case of "Public Health Emergency" employers legitimately allow 14 days of immediately accessible paid sick leave to their employees.
Adding below my original response when this was first posted in the wrong section of DP. It did not seem to come over with the thread: Isn't this a wonderful, free stuff law? Employers are "allowed" to pay people for two weeks' of not working? That should really help the economy and excite employers into hiring more people. Like most "free" programs, who do you think will be paying for it? The poor slobs who actually go to work every day and pay their taxes. Redistributing wealth is always a bad idea.
The main problem here is that you get exposed, self-quarantine, don't get sick, go back to work, get exposed, self-quarantine, don't get sick, go back to work. Or you self quarantine, get sick on day 14 when the money runs out and are actually sick for a further 30 days. How will you know when you've actually built up an immunity and no longer need to self-quarantine? How will employers know when someone is taking the piss or genuine?
