I just saw the story on engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/08/dell-lays-down-the-law-no-more-windows-xp-shipments-after-octob/)... it looks like they're trying to push Windows 7... even though a good number of people still prefer Windows XP, especially businesses. Do you think this is a good move for Dell?
Not quite sure if it is. Couldn't they just have an online auto-update available, instead of halting shipments of their computers, because of the browser update and upgrade instead?
I think it is positive step because Microsoft already stopped supporting Windows XP from last year so it is obvious that DELL and another manufacturer should support Windows 7 or VISTA because of future compatibility factors
Dell sells a Windows 7 version with "XP mode" for running stuff in XP. Looks like Microsoft realizes that some people don't want to take the risk of moving to 7, but will if they still have a fall back mode.
