If someone buys yahoo rights can that person legally shut it down?

Didnt google buy youtube...its the same stuff...a person/company could buy yahoo if they offer a lot of money then that person/company can do whatever he wants with the stuff he just bought. Its like buying a painting, the new owner can do whatever he wants, putting in a wall, giving to its country treasure or destroy just for the fun of it :D

He means purchasing Yahoo Inc. and then closing it down. Yes you can do whatever you wish to do with your company if all the shareholders.

If Yahoo is able to pay back the rights , I guess that person can't shutdown it :)
and also, even 10% of yahoo rights would be expensive, it's cheaper to hire 100 hackers to hack Yahoo! :D

Nah, that would be just a downtime of around max 6 hours time. Then its back to normal.

Speaking of which did you heard about the lid that hacked ebay German for fun and redirected to another site. Darn. that site must be getting a huge spike in traffic. Anything lesser than a dedi, should have caused a breakdown. :p

Man, you ask dumb questions. But yes, you can shut down Yahoo! if you buy it.

of course that is if you are ok with paying 40 bilion dolars and then throw it away. At least that is how much microsoft offered them. Yahoo refused.

You'll need to buy all the shares from the public before you can shout it down - if you don't want a law suit.

    Wow ! That's a business plan ! Spend BILLIONS and close it da f down ! WICKED ! :D

    Simple steps for dummies:

    1. Make a pile of 40 billion dollars.
    2. Burn it.

    Effect: the same.
