I'm about to release a script forsale... For each script, I'm going to give the buyer a unique code and keep track of the website he is using the script on. If I were to find a script illegally on another website, how would I be able to get them to delete the site? Would I have to contact his host? What do most hosts do? I know vBulletin has something simular to if they're not using a legal version, their site gets deleted. How so? Thanks!
You just DMCA it :0 You could code something into the script also that would be fun. It would obviosuly be easy to remove but something like a backdoor.. that allows you to run things. Code some insecurity into it that allows you access of the files on there server. Ive done something like this before, just to a different effect.
Or pay for protection but that would limit the sale rate. But as Kalyse said put something in the code like a backdoor
Exactly, it has to be addressed in full in the privacy policy and the software agreement that its there and what to what extent it will be used for. Otherwise, its illegal.. not to mention an easy way to get hacked if you dont know what you're doing when you code it.
If you can afford a decent server, code a verification script into your program, so that the program connects and reports to your server in a certain interval.
Dependency sucks. Ive thoguht of doing that million times but.. heck.. depency on that would be bad...
its illegal and invasion to personal privacy and incase hackers come to know about this backdoor then they can help you to delete script and other files on server. Redwine
