    Hey guys,

My friend's brother deleted the contents of one of his Notepad files (.txt) and then saved it, but that data was very important to my friend and he had spent a month collecting all the stuff inside it. Now he wants the stuff to be restored, so... what should he do? Any solutions?

The OS is Windows XP SP2

    Thanks

I dont know whether it will work but try
    System Restore Option
    You will find it in
Start ----> Programs ----> Accessories ----> System Tools ----> System Restore

and then restore your system to few days back

since its a .txt file there really isn't much you can do to recover it for free. I'm kinda sure there is some for pay program out there may be able to get it back in one piece.

Oh and I thought I might add... the computer has not been shut down yet, so is there a possibility of any tmp file holding the contents?

I would check if you have a restore program on the computer.

What type of info was on it??

All I can suggest right now is to perform a system restore, as you are saying computer is not been shut down so there is a good chance that lost data is recovered.

There aint any restore program on the computer... and system restore doesn't help in getting old copies of files back.
