I was reading some article and it said that even if you delete a email from your Gmail account the emails still get stored like in a backup file so that means the emails never get deleted in my understanding. My question is does Hotmail and Yahoo do the same?
It gets deleted at some point... but just like any backup, if you delete a file, it's still going to exist in a backup until the backup is updated. Kind of pointless to have a backup if it was deleted instantly.
And yes Yahoo and MSN do exactly the same-for security reasons (they keep such backups up to a year or two)
Google is providing all these data-collection services 100% free. Gmail, Analytics, Orkut, YouTube and many more... god knows what you can do with so much of people's personal data. They even want to buy Twitter now.
well remember, if you use gmail, google has full rights to use your emails for content reviews ad reviews keyword calculation and all that jazz, it comes with the territory of using free email clients
