I am looking at registering a pr4 domain thats available as it has been deleted just now. this domain has a few pr 5 backlinks so my question is even if google resets it to 0 it will still regain pr after I reregister it....i mean it cant be a pr 0 if it has pr5 pages pointing to it right?
Well, actually it can fall to PR 0 when it expires and treated as brand new. Backlinks are a major consideration but there are other criteria which determines your PR ratings too and age of the domain name is one thing. Otherwise, anyone can start up a brand new website with a brand new domain namd do a several PR 5 backlinks to it.
If it was just deleted and still shows valid backlicks (make sure the link is on the page, dont just look in the search results) then it will most likely keep the PR due to the timing of the PR update.
due to the timing of the pr update? If there is a website that has a valid pr6 page pointing to it and that domain gets deleted, then reregistered after deletion and the pr6 webmaster doesnt remove the link then the pr6 link must be counted for the reregistered domain right? I mean google doesnt have actual people looking into each and every pr decision. Its just a computer working with a set algorithm that determines pr for a domain right? so if a pr6 page points to a domain (even if that domain has no other inbound links) it cant come out to a pr 0????
It can go either way .... I have purchased expiring domains that have lost pr a day or two after I got a hold of the domain. However if you know what to look for you can usually get a 75% success rate of choosing domains that do keep links. A tip: Think about looking at many factors and not just pr. Their are many things that effect rankings and pr is actually not all that important today. I have many pr2 and pr3 that make me some nice cash. Brian
