Hey guys, I was wondering how would I go about deleting an old account. I made it 3 years ago, real name, location and profile picture, but I haven't used it at all. NOT ONE TWEET. However, when I create accounts on services that I know I won't really use, I use simple passwords (mostly "111111" or stuff like that). Now I want to open a real business under my name, but when I google my name to make sure there's no shady stuff, the first result is my twitter account. Moreover, it seems that 2 years ago someone logged in and posted 25 spam posts, are all the same format and advertise the same website. I've tried contacting the support team at @support, no answer. I've tried contacting them via email, they just bounce me around that they can't help me. I can't remember my email, password or phone number, as I created it 3 years ago. I asked if I could know the registered phone number/email, and no answer since then. As far as I know, their policy states that accounts with an inactivity of 6 or more months get automatically deleted. Well there's no post since 2012 or so. Accoun is still up and they told me that they don't release accounts at the moment. Why? Just to have some damn statistics with "Twitter has x million users" ? It's very frustrating, as I can even provide proof that I'm the rightful owner of the accounts, by taking a picture of my identity card (same name and location) with a piece of paper with the current date. However, I told them about this and they still don't agree. What should I do to get this account removed? I know that it will disappear from Google in 90 days after deletion, but the longer it's up, the longer it will take to disappear from Google. Has anyone managed to get his account removed with some kind of proof? If yes, please let me know... I've also asked them to change the username and the real name to something random... still no response Any help would be appreciated!
Perhaps your account that you created 3 years ago was deleted, per the policy you cited about inactivity, since you never used it. Then some time after that, someone else came along and created their account using your now deleted username. That would make the account you are seeing their account. Perhaps Twitter is not letting you cancel someone else's account. Is there some way to see when a twitter account was created - then maybe you could determine if it was, in fact, still yours created 3 years ago.
Twitter> Settings> scroll to the bottom of first page (account) > Deactivate account. I hope I have helped you, you can also just change all of the info and delete all of your location info.
You obviously did not read his post. He does not have access to the account, so how would he have access to the settings?
Unfortunately that can't be the case, because if you would create a new account under a username that's inactive, you need that account's email.. and then it gets reactivated. Also, if you would create a new account (in case you would), I would think that your location and profile picture would reset, as they would be deleted from the server. I mean, this would mean the deletion of the account .. removing all your info from the server. This account still has the picture, full real name and my location on it. I'm still struggling to prove that it's mine, but it seems that they don't care if I have proof or not. Which is kinda stupid, taking into consideration that this account is inactive (once again)..
