    Hi Everyone,
I am in big confusion... In every webmaster forum nowadays I am finding a suggestion that not to copy paste content from other websites. Actually, my problem is that I have 3 websites with almost 80% of them is copied content. I used to copy news from news sites and republish them on my website.

Last 50 to 60 posts have original content. Out of these copied content posts, one posts is listed on 5 position in Google for a keyword (of course it is a low search traffic keyword). With this post, I am in a bit confusion to delete these posts (which are nearly 200 to 300) from each site... So, please suggest me whether to delete or not these pages...
    Waiting eagerly for suggestions...
    Thanking You

If it is working leave it alone. I may be that the content you pasted was erased and now you are the only source. Keep in mind that when you copy someone else's content, you are violating their copyrighted work and they can sue you. Realistically it is not likely someone will sue you, if you are running a nickel and dime site with little traffic. If you become too big to ignore, you are going to be at risk.

As a writer I feel very strongly about copying other people work. Yes it may be working for you and you may not be getting penalized by the search engines for it, but there is a moral issue here as well.
Not only is copying someone else's work plagiarism (which is illegal and amounts to theft) but it is also morally wrong.
There are so many good writers out there who are struggling to make a living because people are too willing to take a short cut instead of putting their hand in their pocket and paying good money for good content.
A business needs time and money invested in it to make it work, cutting corners may work in the short term but might cost you severely in time to come.

I have used news stories on my website, but I have always written the articles myself and put a different view on them. This means that my content stays original and my readers get a different view on the things that matter.

Why didn't you just use the RSS feed from EurekAlert?

If you have spent the last year writing your own content for the site, then leave the previous content alone. It's buried in your archives. Your site has managed to survive several Google updates, so I would just keep on the routine of adding your own unique take on current news. There's really no point to editing the site now to remove the old content. It's buried by the new content and the damage has already been done.

@Aabdana I would write the news topics in your own words, give a different take in it, add your own opinion. This then makes it original and better for your readers and Google. What you are doing at the moment could land you in trouble for plagiarism. As a writer I would pursue anyone who copied my content, I have spent my time on it and a client has paid good money for it, so why should someone else benefit from it without paying me or the client? I know they say it can mean you have done a good job and I guess it is flattering that someone else likes my writing, but not when they are stealing it. If they like my work then they should get in touch and pay for original content, I am not difficult to find (nobody is with the internet) and I am always happy to take new orders.
