Hi, I brought a new 16GB Pendrive of HP. At first time, it opened fast and file system was FAT. Then I changed to NTFS and formatted it. After that it takes around 5 min to show up in my PC, although the icon in taskbar appears at the moment I insert it. Anybody know solution? I have Win XP SP3. This PD works fine in other PC or laps. So, why is this particular delay specially in my PC for this pen drive.
Because your particular PC takes a long time to recognize an external NTFS drive. Why did you reformat it anyway? The default standard for flash drives is FAT, FAT32 or ext3 (depending on what you're going to use it for).
Other drives with NTFS work well. Only this one is causing problem. And I converted it to NTFS because you can't put big files on FAT file system.
Try updating your USB and/or chipset drivers to the latest version. This is almost certainly the solution. As Rukbat suggested try formatting it as exFAT or FAT32 - less likely to work.
There are may be some possible reason: 1> check your USB drivers, as @seedubya said 2> may be virus effected 3> your system may be established on FAT version (I mean during the installation of OS, you selected FAT mode) and that's why it can't detect easily an external NTFS device....only one solution...format your systmet with NTFS mode and hope you can easily access any FAT or NTFS device
^^^ Well, it does detect other NTFS pendrives easily. Anyway, since it was not working with mine, I gave it to one my friend and it works fine on their laptop.
