Just wanted here your guys thought about what a strong backlink is. I see some directories saying that they provide strong backlinks to your site, can some break this down and tell us what determines a strong backlink. I'm not talking about the main directory page but the listing page. Give us your insite.
Just a few thoughts: - On a page that has actual toolbar PageRank - On a page that has zero or minimal advertising - On a directory that has zero unrelated sitewide links - On a page that google has indexed - On a page that is 2 clicks or less away from the homepage
I think strong back link means you will have your link in a page with high PR, related content within that page.
Another strong back link would be when you do a search for a certain keywords and it appears as your title but it takes you to a directory detail page in which you've submitted.
That would be the core and simpliest way to define it. In reality I think its just used for an advertising purpose. "Strong backlink" sounds convincing and promising to certain folks obviously. Same similar term is used among self-called SEO experts such as "trust rank" or "authoritive site". I am sure Google staffs get lots of laughs from these guys.
Strong backlink means you will get the link from relavant content - high PR page with your targeted anchor text.
