Hey guys, Im interested to know how relevant do back links have to be to your site to get maximum results. Most relevant as an example, would be your direct competitors, but most of the time you will not get back links from them. What are the different criteria for relevance? Can anyone shed some light?
No, not really, at least not officially. Just use common sense. If you don't have any then take a step back and look at your page from a 3rd person perspective. Ask yourself if you think the link is relevant to your site/niche. If you have to think about it for more then half a second, the answer is likely NO, it's not relevant.
Different criteria for relevance ... I never thought about it like that. To me backward links are like a huge net that you can throw out to encompass all the pages on your site and every specific topic. I have a site about Tenerife. It covers holidays and expat living. With this I consider all the following to be relevant... Sites about the location covering holidays, accommodation, flights, business, learning the language, cuisine, festivals, history, culture, myths and legends, well known people from the destination, politics, property, investment, services. Any site that touches a topic relevant to the specific location would be my prime target, followed by any site that touches a topic relevant to the country in which my location exists. Next would be general expat sites and general holiday sites. I would always request a link from a page within any site that most closely matches mine rather than a general link page. For example, I could swap links with a general cooking site from a page on Spanish cuisine to a page on my site that offers a recipe from Tenerife.
google gives the answer on http://www.google.com.tr/search?hl=...elevance&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title .
Thanks trichnosis, That pretty much explains that. Thanks that will really help me make decisions in this area for hte future. Thats great
My method is to do a search on the term that you are targeting. View the results (not just the top 10) and see how many places you could put links. You may find that results show for forums and places where it would be fairly easy to get links. another way is to view the strategies of the top 5 websites. Do some research on how they have focused their links and you may find some places where you could easily get links. I believe that article submissions are some of the best sources of relevant links. You can write an article that is based on your key terms. Write a compelling article focused on your key term subject that is semantically written well and the page will be relevant to your keyword focus and make your well anchored link on that page a higher quality link.
One of my websites is targeting the keyphrase 'Naruto Wallpaper', good backlinks for me come from any websites about 'Naruto', 'Wallpapers' or 'Naruto Wallpapers'.
Well, if they are the backlinks that you target, they are for sure quite relevant. But it would matter most if the backlinks you get have many backlinks too. Then it will have more weight to your site.
