Doorway pages are Web pages designed and built specifically to draw search engine visitors to your website. They are standalone pages designed only to act as doorways to site. They are also known as portal pages, jump pages, gateway pages, entry pages, and by other names as well.

Doorway pages technique is considered as "Black Hat" technique by popular search engines. Still many SEO firms uses them routinely.

I think of them as a one page site that is very targeted just to lead people to your main site

Door way pages is nothing but the pages which is specially created for web crawlers or search engines.
You can find in search engine guidelines that do not create pages for just web crawlers but create those page for visitors.
People usually create pages by targeting keywords with spamming and get ranking for that pages. than just redirect those traffic to main sites. those pages are called doorway pages.

Doorway Pages are web pages that have been created for the sole purpose of ranking highly in the search results for one or two searchterms, and are not normally an integral part of the website.

Doorway pages designed purposely to describe search engine traffic to your site. How do you mark one? In general, if you can’t find to the page by following the site’s navigation, then it’s likely a doorway page.

Door way page is easily identify that those pages have been designing for search engines not for human beings or visitors. The main problem of it is that users don't arrive at the goal page. Suppose they did a search for "golf clubs," and the doorway page appears. They click through, but that page probably lacks detail about the clubs you sell or we can say that they may be failed to provide enough information about that particular phrase or services of it.
So, next time, user may not take visit of it.
