I was looking for a way to hide links from a page - internal and outgoing... i cam across this nice post, he brings up nice technique there. I need another opinion on the matter - do you think search engines can scan the hardlink on a page or not: hxxp://www.saschakimmel.com/2009/06/how-to-hide-links-to-avoid-nofollow-pagerank-sculpting-issues/
Are your reasons for wanting to hide a link similar to the one the author of this post suggests? Personally, I don't like it. I'm not a fan of requiring the client to have js enabled for anything, and I don't recommend using it in regular websites. All that being said, I don't see why this would present a problem with google at all. since the links don't exist until the js parses the script and embedds then, and since googlebot doesn't have js enabled, they wouldn't see the link, and would just see the 'span' element instead, just like anyone else that didn't have js enabled.
did you mean that you wanna hide a link from your visitor? if so then stop that, i watched a video of matt at youtube and he strongly recommend not to violate the rules, google will surely penalize you for doing this. if i will find that video link then i will post it here. so be alerted and careful.
