Experimenting with a big 336x280 block I throw at new visitors, I decided to see if default colours worked better than blended - I heard someone say that if people see the default link colour it's an extra hint. So, I set it up so that for the first 10 page views of a new visitor I give them at random for each page load either the standard blended ad or a default colour ad. I've been running this since the weekend and my data suggests that the CTR for BOTH has raised (does the changing colour attract the eye?) for a similar CTR for either option, but the weird one is that the default block is paying out around thrice as much per click! Anyone seen this before? I know it could just be random, but...
Never seen this before, you should keep an eye on it and see if the increase endures. That doesn't make any sense.
Maybe you had some error in the test. If you could do it again than maybe you are right for your niche.
