I understand that I want backlinks to specified pages on my site, which will give you higher ranks for those keywords. Is that correct?

What about when you have multiple pages on your site that are interrelated? For example, my Scooby store has episode guide pages and pages for each of the Scooby Doo series DVDs and movies. Does G look at all of these interrelated pages as 1? Or does G look at the page dealing with A Pup Named Scooby Doo completely separate from the page on Scooby Doo Where Are You?

Yes you need links with your keyword text as the anchor and I like to interlink pages on my sites.
