Have any of you experience this problem?.We had just include a week now 3 deep links mode and a long up to 300 words description at our europe directory www.bidlink.eu and many if not allmost all clients ignore them. also we inform any previous clients from the socializations and anoun section that have a link there to pm us so we can have the infos for deep links and better description so we can update them for free and only one ask that! What is your thoughts about this situation?

Make it 1000 words long, maybe they post 300 then :D

    But don't take me serious,
I'm always little bit sarcastic on things that are so evident.

    :)

I have a directory where you get five extra deep links each with a 1000 character description. I often get submissions where the webmaster leaves the fields for the extra deep links blank or they put in a deep link but no description at all.

A featured listing gets an extra details page where you can write your own meta title and description and have a much longer description that with the standard listing along with the extra five deep links and descriptions. Sometimes people will submit a featured listing and not give any info whatsoever for their details page.

I have it happen a lot. I think deep links can add value to a listing but many choose not to take advantage

    If Clients ignore Descriptions

then you should use options without Deeplinks

    http://www.jeffbrowninc.com/submit.php

So if a Client did n't know about Deep links he will just submit as a Normal Listing without Deeplinks

People like to spend the monies without noting what a good submission can do for their site.
Submit to a directory with a poor description and oftentimes, I believe, many will pass that listing and not click on the link!

What happens when you search Google - do we all not read the description below the link!

I personally don't see any difference between a directory with and without deep link option, I submit regardless if they this option available or not. This option is useless if the detail page is not indexed by major search engines which is something that happens a lot with directories (including "top quality" directories) or where traffic is virtually non existing. Those two things really would make a difference.

    A third reason is this:

After taking the time (more than 10 min) adding all the information just to receive an email with the title "Your Submission was not approved". This should be a encourage to keep using deep link option (eeheheh).

For the record, I do take everything that is included when buying listing.

This is absolutely spot on - often the detail page is not indexed (and sometimes even the category). This does indeed make the detail page useless.

I think more webmasters are becoming clued up to such things and are checking the value of the directory by looking into how much is actually indexed and ranking etc.

This is becoming the new way to identify the "quality" a directory IMO - especially after recent events.

I tried to submit to your directory but I am getting invalid description all the time ...

And about traffic on directories...I get tons of SE traffic but you have to put some links manually there ;)

Sure, I was not implying your directory was not indexed :) I was just agreeing with previous post that webmasters are perhaps thinking more before submitting - and asking themselves if the investment and time is worth it as much these days

I think it's because of (semi)automated submitting software.
You need to do it manually, and for all those cheap submission services is a pain in da *ss.
