Deep linking vs homepage linking.

Which is better in your opinion? For example, you have a site on acne.com. If one is talking about treating acne, they would deeplink to acne.com/treatments? Thats the natural thing to do isn it?

But would it help in SEPR for the homepage? Any expert on deeplinking vs homepage linking please comment?

 

I will select homepage linking, because the home page is the most important of one website

Home page links are important and thats probably where a lot of end users will link to when talking about your site.

You definitely need to do deep linking to as it helps immensely with other keywords and SE traffic

Home page links are quite easy to come by. I always take a deep link when I can get it.

I think you should first build backlinks for your homepage and after that, you can get links for the inner pages too. Both home page and deep linking are important.

 

hmm homepage is better i think because i cant approve that if i will get one backlink from inner pages.

 

If you have a proper top->down structure for your website, it would be impossible NOT to get backlinks from inner pages.

 

Deep linking is best because it creates more value for the overall website; however, you main homepage should be the center of your top 3 KW (i.e. main KW you want to target). The rest should be linked deep into the site.

 

It depends on your keyword strategy. You cannot make your homepage to got ranked all keywords and you should not do that. You should make your homepage got ranked for your best set of keywords, around 5-8 keywords and make inner page ranked for second level keyword. This could help your site link profile naturally. If you do not have any link to your inner page, it might mean not any single pages under your site is worth linking to from others. The inner page linking strategy also improve your overall linking strategy for your homepage too.

As everyone knows that google gives higher priority for keyword in domain name. If you doubt You can have a google search for the keyword "acne treatment". You can notice almost top 10 websites will be having keyword in domain name itself.
If you dont have chance of using keyword in domain name, then you have to use extensions. Like domainname.com/acne-treatment.aspx.

If you are targetting for the keyword "acne treatment" it is better if you built links to domainname.com/acne-treatment.aspx instead of domainname.com.
