Hi, when submitting to directories that allow deep links, does the title you enter have to be the EXACT title of your page, or can it be different as long as includes the page name. i.e if I have a page named Shoes, can I use the title Designer Shoes For Sale? Thanks Dee
It varies with owner. It can be different than the page title though for my directory. Long as it doesn't look to spammy.
What's the point of the deeplinks? It's not like anyone sees them. Are they cached and tracked by Google as separate backlinks or something?
Yes, and people do see them and click them. I wrote a script to track click results for my deep links and they do get clicked.
Deep links help get your sub pages ranked better in the serps. They do the exact same thing that a link to your homepage does, for whatever keywords your targeting. If your subpage is targeting Blue Cars and you link the anchor text "Blue Cars" to your internal page, it will help your page in Google specifically.
Does anyone have an example of a deep link on a directory? drop the url for me to see the deep links in affect!
They do get clicks and they also facilitate deeper indexing of target sites with a few other benefits. As far as the original question you should read the directory guidelines where your submitting for what is allowed for the anchor text. Most directories will not allow excessive keyword spam but will give some latitude. bbrian017 - Example of deep link can be found here. Listed as quick links.
This is the Real Estate page of my Deep Link directory. http://www.thedeepdirectory.com/business/real_estate.html Every site listed there is a deep link...none of them go directly to the index page.
I don't see no deep links? Where are the deep links? I think I'm misunderstanding the point of a deep link or what it looks like. I mean a link with 5 deep links should have 6 links right or is it hidden like a meta tags when submitting?
Hello... these are deep links http://www.biz-king.com/Health/Dental_Health/dallas-cosmetic-dentist-19516.html As you can see each page is described threw its anchor text Deep link #1 Smile Makeover in Dallas, Texas Deep link #2 Porcelain Veneers in Dallas | Dental Veneers Deep link #3 Dental Implants in Dallas, Texas Deep link #4 Tooth Whitening in Dallas | Zoom ! Professional Teeth Whitening System Deep link #5 Dental Bonding in Dallas, Texas You submit them on the submit page where it says Title 1: and URL 1: Title 2: and URL 2: ect ect I hope this helps someone as many dont know how too use them and repaet the main url 5 times thx malcolm
A deep link is just a text link that goes to one of the internal pages of your website instead of the homepage. Lots of directories don't like deep links because people create spammy subpages on a domain and then submit to thousands of sites. When you require the link go to the homepage only, then you'll get a lot less crap. That's about the size of it.
Brian and others that are somewhat new around here...There's two things the folks are talking about around here when it comes to "deep links". There's the original meaning that a submission can be for a page other than the homepage, i.e. interior pages of a website. And, there's the corrupted meaning that refers to a mod/feature that includes a number of deeplinks displayed on the details page. "Deep links mod" was shortened to deep links despite being different from the original meaning. Those directories, like both of mine, that follow the original definition allow site owners to submit pages other than their homepage for the primary/only title - some directory owners require the title text used to be the site title and some are more flexible. The directories with the "deep links mod", by their nature, are in addition to the main listing title/link and are typically either the URL or a keyword phrase or page title.
I always try to use variations of the page title for my link text in deep links. It only takes a few links to inner pages of an already strong site to see results in the SERPs for the inner pages. One tip is to look at pages and link text where you are on the second page of google (and getting a little traffic) and focus on those first. You can usually bump the traffic from those keywords pretty easily with deep links.
my signature takes you to several different parts of my rental website rather than just the home page url. you can go to an events calendar, villa of the month , etc.
Like stated by other people it depends on the Directory owner. The best is to read the submission guidelines from the directory (if there are any)
In mine it doesn't have to be the same title for that page, you can use what you want if its relevant, il take it. Designer Shoes For Sale? id take that.
HI It would not be a problems on my directory from your questions.. I get people buying paid links and not filling in the deep links... so i do it for them... deep links are a great extra bonus to a paid directory listing.. Thanks Tom
Hi, thanks everyone very useful info. A good tip to also add a link to your internal page in your sig, I'm going to do that. Thanks Again Dee
Most directory owners don't mind if its different, just as long as it is on topic. Just keep an eye out for directories that have SEO friendly link detail pages. People that submit ten word titles would likely have a very very long URL to their link detail page.
