Trying to get your opinion on using deep links in signatures and articles bylines. Are they beneficial? What are your experiences? A deep link points to some specific inside a web site, where a home page link goes right to the home page index. In article marketing I usually point to specific mini sites, in blog comments I'll post to relevant articles, and in contextual references I'll deep link. What are your thoughts? Best, Justin
I strongly recommend deep linking, it is absolutely natural to have links to other pages of your website and the search engines LOVE Natural links
Get backlinks to your inner pages. I agree with vstar on deeplinking. Remember most of the linkbaits are for deep pages and rarely for homepage. If you have empty space available in your SIG, use that for a deep link. I do the same in blog posts.
Always use deep linking. It both helps in terms of overall PR, helps with the links coming into your site looking more 'natural' ie not all links to the same page and helps with the overall indexing of your site. If you have space on your sig (and most sites allow two, if not three links) always use one of these for a deep link.
Looks like the consensus is deep linking works in signatures as they would anywhere else. I'm hearing that relevance is a factor to consider, 'gwydion' got me thinking I ought to use deep linking everywhere because that's how people point out relevant content. I'll start doing some testing with article bylines and signatures on other boards to know for sure. Thank you for everyone's feedback. Best, Justin
Relevant, on topic deep links can be very powerful - both for SEO and traffic. WRT. Articles - it means you can compose an article that is relevant to the deep link that you are promoting - no-brainer really.
