Dedicated, who should I go with?

I've got a large network of proxy sites, and I'm currently with Hivelocity.
    Server specs are as follows:
    P4 2.8GHZ Dual Core
    2GB Ram

Even whenever there are no requests by others, it takes forever to load pages through the proxy. Who has QUICK dedicated servers?

Hawk Host has several dedicated server offerings. You can view them all by visiting our dedicated server page.

But this issue at hand sounds like a problem with your machine whether it's mismanaged I do not know. But if you are not serving pages and it's still super slow then something is up. What's the load average of the machine when nothing is supposedly running? What sort of bandwidth can you sustain when its slow? Now to determine the bandwidth just do a wget of a large feel if it's able to burst up quite a bit I highly doubt it's a probably with the connection.

And if the speed gets slow at your host, just change host, dont wait for them to fix it because they will probably not do it.

Well, it downloaded a file at 300kbps, but when browsing through PHproxy its incredibly slow, even when server load is minimal. I've optimized my php.ini and httpd.conf files, and its still slow.

Don't go with Layeredtech. They have slower connection. Try some european server. Easyspeedy.com, leaseweb.com or rapidswitch or similar strong network company.

So it's just slow for the proxy the physical machine does not feel sluggish. Then I'd suggest maybe looking at a larger connection. If you're currently only on a 10mbit port look to getting a 100mbit port.

    600kbps.

I have contacted them before and their response was "limit the amount of httpd requests".

I've just check from 1 of my dedicated server which has 100 Mbit connection to test the connection it is 250 Kbps which is very slow.

**To check my server connection I have checked to download in the same server from rapidshare and it is downloading 6500 Kbps and from another server in different country and it is downloading 8.9 Mbps.

I was confused by that. Anyway if I'm getting around 800kbps on that test file(http://speedtest.layeredtech.com/32mb.test.file.zip), should I look for a new host? My server itself hasn't been brought to its knees as far as resources, but the download/upload is slow IMO.

I would suggest checking out HostDrive.com. We've been in business over a decade now. We custom build each of our servers and host them in our own private carrier class facility. We have multiple connections to the internet, to insure your server or servers are always available and fast.

Prices start at just $89/mo. Check our our dedicated server plans at our web site, or feel free to PM me, or email me directly with any questions.

No job is to big or too small. If you do not see something you like, we can build a custom solution to fit your individual needs.

    Hope to hear from you!
