Dedicated vs. Shared hosting

Newbie question. I'm building a new site and looking at my hosting options. What kind of traffic requires a dedicated server instead of shared server. In other words, how many daily uniques or monthly page views etc would overload a shared server.

    Thanks much for your reply.

It really depends on the services of Hosting provider, some companies provide Unlimited Bandwidth with their package. However if you really have Heavy traffic (heavy mean, atleast 10K per day) you can go for dedicated server.

If your starting a brand new site, I would start with either Shared or a VPS then go from there. No reason to use a full dedicated server if you don't need all the resource yet.

dedicated server will give you more technical responsibility, also you will be the one to manage your server as this is dedicated to you. This has not being shared among any other clients or people.
