I need some advice... We are a small company providing email marketing (a'la Mailchimp, iContact etc) and currently use Sendgrid for our customers email sending, but are looking for an alternative solution that is both cheaper to send out and faster (Sendgrid takes around 2 hours to send out 5,000 emails). We need a solution that can send out around a million emails in a day. Ive looked at PowerMTA and it seems ideal, but for a small company the whole 'in-house servers' setup isn't (we're not very techie). So was looking into whether a dedicated server with PowerMTA installed would do the trick. Apparently a cloud / virtual service isn't ideal, but a cheap dedicated server could be. Any clues, experience, technical help... ?
1 million emails in 1 day , you need 256 IP's pool with high end server with PTR set for delivery. Most of the cases you may not be able to get it even you try your hard luck. It is because no provider can provide you 256IP's pool for email infrastructure.
Here's how you can setup powermta from scratch in a dedicated server : http://www.rekblog.com/how-to-setup-powermta/
