Dedicated server recommendations?

I couldn't find a Hosting section, so hopefully this is a good spot to ask. I currently lease several dedicated servers from 1and1.com and have been very pleased with the cost / features. However, they seem to have problems about once a month in which portions of their network will go down, or other problems that knock out my sites. So, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good dedicated server host that has fanatical support and incredible uptime? Rackspace is the only one that I can think of, but the cost is 5-10 times what I pay for 1and1. Any thoughts??? Thanks in advance...

I use RimuHosting for my VPS, so I don't really know about their dedicated servers. What I do know is this: they aren't the cheapest option out there, but they have the *best* support I've ever worked with.

1and1...If you ask me, I haven't heard anything convincingly good enough...all complaints and nightmare stories.
You haven't mentioned your budget, management level needed, hardware specifications...can't do with such little info.

BTW, the WHT forums offers section should be your friend :)

beachcomber, axishost, a2b2, FDC are all pretty neat. I don't know any of the above except manage my box. I'd go read some reviews on Webhostingtalk, and not just take any ONEs word for it.

I recommend checking out http://softlayer.com then pay an external management site. You usually can get decent management for $30-60 a month so it's not terribly bad.

I appreciate the responses. I'll be reviewing each of the sites mentioned. Jajed, I too have used RimuHosting for VPS and been impressed.

agnivo007, in terms of budget and other specifics, at 1and1 we currently have some Pentium 4s w/ 2GB RAM and some Dual-core x 2 Opterons w/ 8GB RAM. The pentiums go for about $150/mo and the Opterons are about $400/mo. We don't need any management in terms of software, we just need the hardware/network maintenance. I haven't found any other places that can beat 1and1's price and features on these dedicated servers. The problem is that they have network problems about once a month for a few hours to half a day. If that happens during peak times, we could lose up to $3K.

So, I was hoping there would be a place that might charge $200 - $300 more per month, but offer the same features along with better uptime and instant customer service. Rackspace is the only company that I've had personal experience with that offers that level of reliability, but it's not worth it when you have to shell out over $1K per month for their low end servers.

Thanks again for the suggestions -- I'd love to hear more as well. :)

    Doctorlove,
What's the catch with rippleweb.com? 100% uptime and multi-core Intels at such a low cost? Is that for real?

Has anyone else had experience with these guys? It sounds very impressive, but I'm not sure how they can offer 100% uptime at that price.

You should definitely check WHT forums...great deals in the offers section.
If you're looking for multi-core high end boxes for cheap, check out atjeu.com : they have been offering such boxes for long at WHT.
