Dedicated Server Bandwidth Question

I am starting up a network for mmo games and plan on getting a dedicated server. I have no idea where to start with bandwidth costs. I expect the network to get around 40k - 200k total page views daily after the initial launch. I have no idea what to purchase for bandwidth/connection costs so if anyone could help me out, it would be great!

What is the average page size in KB? multiply that number by 40,000, then by 30 so you will have an approximate amount of transfer in kB. Assume 10%+ for robots, spiders, etc.

if you don't have a traffic estimate, just get an unmetered 10Mbps pipeline for about $50 a month. Or just get a server with 2500 GB, and if upgrade as usage goes high, the datacenters will upgrade in a pro rate basis, and if the metered bandwidth costs go over $50, get the unmetered line.

If you already have a server (home pc server) and you a looking to get hosted on dedi (because u have more player now) then do not hesitate to get 100mbps unmetered bw. 10mbps is too slow for mmo server. If you just started to make a new one u can test it on xen vps since you will get a dedicated resource.. well u can move to dedi later on.. (save lots of $$ there).

It's for a network of websites about MMO games. Not sure if you were talking about hosting actual mmo games or not. The network is for news, forum communities, item databases, etc. of certain MMO games.

Can someone explain the bandwidth choices? I don't understand what the choices of 2500gb, 4000gb, etc. mean. Do they mean the total amount of accumulated bandwidth usage at one time cannot exceed that amount?

I was going to buy a dedicated server to host myself at home and purchase a T1 connection but am not sure if that's the right choice. I read that server security and maintenance could prove problematic for hosting at home/office when the owner isn't skilled with handling those things.

Overall, I am trying to approach this the best way financially and understand the connection choices that are being made.

If its for a normal web serving then a you can just go with the default bandwidth option since you wont use that much unless you planning to use it for a streaming content. 200k page probably only use around 5-10GB daily
