Dedicated Server. Bad idea if I know nothing about config/fixing/settings?

    As suggested by others, you must recheck if you really need a dedicated server.If yes,then no matter which host you choose just make sure that they are reputable and offer a good post sales support. As I understand,you are more concerned about the technical aspect,in that case,you can choose fully managed dedicated servers.The host would take care of the server management,so need not scratch your head working to resolve the issues related to the dedicated server.You just need to inform the host about the problem and let them get it sorted.

    Guys, thanks very much for the thoughts and advice. Agreed, a dedicated server is a bit more than I need at this moment. More than anything I couldn't get a HostGator discount on Black Friday. I need to earn a dedicated server. I have bookmarked this thread for later reference. I do appreciate the info about using a reseller vs. a company that owns the equipment. It's a real eye opener for me. I will certainly be looking for the source company and not a reseller. Very great information on that. With the ridiculous price I just paid for 3 years hosting, I will now have some time to look into these dedicated server companies. Thanks again guys.
