    1. Lot of dedicated server are in datacenter. When a webhosting company says you are on dedicated server, how can we verify
that we are not on a slice i.e. we are not on VPS.
    2. A VPS of equal configuration as dedicated server should be better than a Dedicated standalone server. Please can
some one support my views. Let me know if I am incorrect. Say I have a VPS with 1 GB Ram with 30MBPS Network & 100 GB HDD
& similar server with 1 GB Ram with 30MBPS Network & 100 GB HDD.

I need help to decide to go for VPS or dedicated server for my 5 high traffic websites

    1) To verify if it's a Dedicated server, execute the command 'ifconfig' and you should see the interface as 'eth0' instead of 'venet0'.

    2) Dedicated server is always better. Though you have a same configuration server, but you are still sharing the host server with other clients. The performance of the host server depends on the resource usage of each VPS and excessive resource usage of one VPS affects the other VPS'es as well.

So instead of looking to save a few $$, it is better to choose a Dedicated server, after all you are planning to host a high traffic websites.
