In another post i asked DP users for their opinion about SEO Hosting plan that can reduce costs from SEOers when building website rings. I was wondering what do you guys think about IP addresses for your website. Should it be dedicated? or shared? I think that dedicated IP address for a 50-pages-wordpress-site can "ring bells" to search engines.
This has been debated time and time again in the SEO world. I like unique IP address. However, I have never been able to supply any evidence to support that it matters one way or another, so I would have to say it does not matter.
I like unique IP addresses too because it feels 'neater', but from experience, I'd say it doesn't matter. The only time I've ever seen it (possibly) matter was when someone was hosting a (perfectly innocent) site that had an IP shared with a load of porn sites. He always had great difficulty getting his site ranked. So it might be worth doing a reverse DNS lookup on your shared IP to make sure the other sites there are fairly kosher.
Different IP is better, I heard some issues about same IP ranges that look spam for SE because of link manipulation using blogging or network of blogs using same IP range.
