Dedicated IP Address Weirdness

    Hello,

I own an ecommerce pet website and through my host have paid for a dedicated IP. This morning I became aware that there is another site hosted using my IP. This is where it starts to get interesting. The other site is a derivative of my domain name the only difference being an "L" in my site name is a "1" on this other domain.

I'm wondering a couple things here...

    1. Why in the world would my host allow another domain to use my dedicated IP.

    2. What are the owners of this domain up to since they obviously sought out my host and requested that their domain be on my IP.

Any insight would be very much appreciated?

Maybe your host is shady and is diverting some of your traffic to a site they setup?

Maybe your account was hacked and someone set up the site?

Did you do a whois search on the other domain? Shouldn't you be contacting your host and asking them what is going on?

I did a whois on the other domain and tried to email them, of course the email doesn't work. I tried to contact my host who is not returning my email.

Smells like a scam mate, what host are you using? I would get the hell out of there. If they leech your traffic, you bleed money. Do you own your domain name, is it registered in your name? The owners of the second domain probably use privacy to hide their identity.
