Decline of Active Users of DP?

This is the first time I've been on the forum since March/April '08.

I've noticed that there is hardly anyone on! Back then when you created a thread in the main forums, it was knocked to the second page within 30 minutes or so, yet now it's comfortably sitting at the top.

Did I miss a massacre of some of the user at DP while I was gone?

 

maybe people got a life and have better things to do???

 

But that's no fun!

Im assuming every one probably got banned

 

maybe lost a few when dp was having database problems too

 

What happens is that Mods are getting very serious about infractions, no more spam is allowed and more and more people are getting banned.
Unless people know what they are taking about they prefer not to post.

 

There could be some reasons:

1. DP has got strict enough with regards to rules
2. There is a flood of other forums and this has started eating up DP's share

But do you feel it is actually good in a sense that some of the crap might have gone out..

 

Which is nice because most posts people make now are more intelligent.

Mods here were always ban happy, even back when I was here. How bad could it have gotten?

 

I'm happy with the new improved DP. Earlier the forum was filled of Useless and Spam threads. People joined the forum to scam people. Many people were scammed in Loans, Money Exchanges, Rapidshare accounts, Web Hosting, useless ebooks, etc. Such scammers used to scam people and then got banned. Soon after they joined back againg with a new name and ready to scam people with a new idea. For a forum like DP, it was necessary to take strict decisions in order to improve the forum. I really adore all the mods for being strict these days and keeping the forum clean.

 

May be because of new rules,i also see so much spam posts here now.

 

Once you left, DP just wasn't a cool place to hang out anymore. Glad to see you back. Maybe things will pick up again now. We need to start PMing everybody and letting them know you are back.

 

I agree with everyone. Spammers are getting banned so the number of useless posts has gone down considerably. At the same time, those who receive temporary bans are too angry to come back after their bans are lifted.

Well I'm still here around the forum
It's good to get myself update with new stuff.

 

It's because many people banned due to the new rules.

 

It's not easy to become dedicated on a Forum, it's time consuming and can cause alot of restraints on personal life.

 

A small slowdown could have occured over start of 2009
