Decent server speeds

    Hi,

I am interested in getting my own dedicated server and was wondering if a 10Mbit/sec is still perfectly good for hosting a website on or if 100Mbit/sec is really required now. I could be hosting as many as 10 small websites from this server.

    Cheers

For most needs, 10Mbit is perfectly fine. However, you can opt to get a 10Mbit feed or limit of 3000Gb/mo on a 100Mbit port which would allow bursting if necessary.

Any reputable data center and experienced host should be able to provide proper bandwidth management to scale with your growing needs.

Actually the speed is highly depend on your site traffic.
If your site is new, then 10M is enough.
Only upgrade when you check the port speed if its bottleneck.

Not really...you can have any amount of traffic and survive on a 10mbit port, and assuming it's 10mbit dedicated, you'll run out of bw much faster than a 100mbit port.

It limits speed to a degree but if you're not located half way around the world, the latency difference wouldn't bother you too much anyway.
