I own a classifieds website (see sig) and it currently ranks on the 3rd page in Google when searching for "classified ads". I think this is a pretty good result comparing how broad the search is, but I do not really recieve a whole lot of traffic from it. Anyone know why or have suggestions for me? http://www.google.com/search?q=classified+ads&hl=en&start=20&sa=N
How many times you reach the 3rd Google page when you're serching for something? From this analyzis, I'd say you need some content and then backlinks.
Very few people go to the third page while searching, let alone the second page. Most of them tend to click on one of the first five links that appear on their screen. A few others might scroll to the bottom and see the rest on the first page.
In unofficial predictions only 30% goes to second page and less than 10% to the third one, so you have to do a good job to atleast get in the way of 2nd page.
Yeah you guys are right... I'll need to do a hell of a job to get to the first page, but i'm gunna try.
Various surveys show that the key to big search engine traffic is to reach the top three listings on page one of the search results.
page 3.. i think try much better to be in the first page.. there are sometime if your competitors has a good and interesting site, therefore searcher never can go through on the third page where if its already available on page one.. "just a conclusion.. "
It was only a survey but I believe that 1st page get the most traffic but it also depends on the targeted keywords if its highly search keywords.
80% of visitors don't go beyond first page when they are lookin for something on google... Imagine how many of the remainin 20% would be goin to the third one.. lol..
Don't forget that if you can't make it to the first page it might be a good idea to do some keyword analysis and find other keywords that will get you there. You can probably do it without losing the traffic you got now from the 3rd serp.
to tell you honestly only few people are looking for searches in the third page because the main concern of people who is looking for their desired keyword is the main page. that is why seo always want to rank in the first page of search engines to get the higher percentage of deriving traffic coming from search engines.
Hi ... I can only echo, what a few others write, start developing back links. If you're selective and strategic, you might PR4, in the next up-date. My sense is a classified site might benefit, most, from back link volume. A lot of sites, which are PR0, today, may be PR3 to PR5, in the next up-date. Work the back links and content. Hope this helps. Not a lot new, but what's repeated is most important. Good luck.
