If you owe a company some money such as a phone contract and debt collectors came after you. Would you pay up or not pay at all? Choose one: 1. Wait for them = Shut the doors. 2. Pay up the money. 3. Do nothing. 4. Play dumb. Others: Please post ^^
Do I really owe the money, and it was fairly charged? Then I pay, no question. I want to be an honourable person.
I dont know the ramification of this where you live, but here, they'll keep harassing you till you pay, and you certainly dont want that. Maybe you can talk to them and spread the bill over a period. Can't pay and won't pay are different and are usually treated differently as well.
well depends on where you at ? at us they ruin your credit score, put in black list so its better to pay everything , if somehow it goes to credit collectors ,pay directly to company , talk it out and ask if they can do something about that dark spot in your credit score , if you are in India , they might send goons to get it out of you ( lol joking i am not Indian ,it was just a Indian movie i watched and something like that happens in that movie )
Get someone you trust like a family member and give them all your things, then if the debt collectors come knockin, they can't take anything.
And you might end up forcing your daugther to marry the 40 yrs old youre having debt with. She will then break the news to her looser but good looking boyfriend, then they all sing in the rain...
If you owe them money, legitimately, then you should pay it, if however, some company has really screwed you over and I know of many, like who will charge 10,000 $ for a $1,000 and preyed on someone who didn't know what they were getting themselves into.. you can nominate to say, pay off your $10 000 debt for $5 a month for the next 30 years, or the max term the offer, just to tick off the company that stuffed you round
Hi! It may or may not affect your credit score..it all depends on them. If I were you (or anybody here) in the US it is now and has been absolutely free to pull all three credit reports once year. Why people insist on paying for something they can get for free or agreeing to pay the likes of freecreditreport.com is beyond me and reason. There is only one main site: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp Even if there isn't a problem..you need to be pulling these reports at least once a year. Yes..you need all three..and have them mail them to your address on file. To get online access..they ask you a bunch of questions..and I have been tripped up and I'm pretty darn familar with what was on there. Bryon
Heres for another 2 or 3 months. If they still dont get you by then, youre really trully off the hook
Hi! Huh? "Off the hook"??? I think not. If they did report it to the bureaus..it's going to be on your reports for 7 years, folks. I mean...this is serious stuff. Credit affects *every* facet of our lives. You may not be able to get that job you applied for...or be able to open a bank account. They check. A credit collector can pursue (not legally, of course) a debt much longer than that. I know. I got them to stop..but..it was not easy. Bottom line folks: Don't make bills you can't pay. The repercussions can last for years. Bryon
Thing is, many states limit what can and can't happen by debt collectors. Things like garnishing wadges in Texas is against the law unless it is for child support or one other thing (can't remember what). And they are only allowed to contact you a few times. Then theres things like your credit score, that can go on for 7 years.
Demand verification of the debt. If they are unable to provide it then the credit bureaus must remove any derogatory information associated with it.
There must be an easier way? I havent heard from them since last 3 months now... What can they do if they get in my house?
