Anyone know much about them making another deathrace movie? Aye, well Jason Stratham will be playing Frankenstein, so it should be amazing. I have high hopes for it For anyone who doesn't know, deathrace 2000 was the original film (aka carmageddon the movie). It's about a race from coast to coast of the USA, where they score points for their position at the end as well as how many people/animals they kill along the way and how many other cars they take out of the competition (by destroying). But there is another storyline to it, but I know i'd give away the ending if I went into that. Anyone else know about the new movie? Thanks, TS
Ugh, the first Death Race 200 was horrible. So bad and cheesy it was almost painful to watch, although with Stallone and David Carradine it still manages to make my regular viewing lists. The hand grenade was just too much to take even sort of serious. The new one looks awful too. Jason Statham is a highly overrated actor in my opinion and I just don't think he can really carry the movie. I'll wait until DVD to see it and pass overly harsh judgments then.
Woah...the film isn't ment to be taken seriously it was like the cannonball run and the other silly films that were made around that time. It's ment to be cheesy and funny because it's obviously not serious. I think they will probably try to make this one more of a serious film (can't really see Stratham playing a comedy role, especially in a film like this), which could go either way IMO. I'm still going to see it though.
I know that it wasn't meant to be serious, but the hand grenade just pushed it to far for me to enjoy. It was just too far out there to even come close to being enjoyable at the end. Don't get me a wrong, it was stupid cheesy fun and I enjoyed it for what it was, but the end was just too far out there. I also don't expect Statham to carry a commedy, but as I said, I don't think he is a strong enough actor to carry any movie on his own. The only things he has done that I enjoyed were movies where he wasn't the lead.
He's done a bunch of films as the lead...and i've liked most of them. To name a few I liked where he was lead: Transporter (1+2) The Bank Job War Crank
