I haven't done it in a while, but I need to start promoting some new sites, so I think I'll try it out. I've used linkmarket.net in the past.. anyone have good experience with them too?
What do you mean by that? My resources directory is not in the supplemental index and it has a pr of 4. I believe the days of huge unrelated directories on your site actually helping you are long gone. A small amount of exchanges with quality, related sites still has benefits.
Get plenty of sites related to yours. I don't think reciprocal links area dead and just don't be too concerned about page rank.
I dont think it is not the death of reciprocal link. Reciprocal link is an additional backlink for your site. But make sure that your reciprocal link is a quality ,trusted and relevant link. Check also the page rank , backlinks, indexed, and traffic as well.
Very simple question, very common question and very newbie question....AND Answered with complexity and answered by experts in two direction. lol I once had a big discussion with one of great seo regarding Link Exchange. What he answered, "Any artificial OR non natural links are NOT worthy" If you Reciprocal link is natural then it is good otherwise not. Example.... Page1 and Page2, Page1 says....page2 have great stuff on one way links. And page2 says....page1 have great stuff on reciprocal links. Then these reciprocal links are good. NOW, question arises... how to decide which is natural and which is not? Big G is working hard on this....even today, perfect technique is not available to decide it. So, mate.....Forget about reciprocal or one way or three way ...... just go and get links which seems to be natural. --------- Further, If we think in natural and genuine way....Those sites have reciprocal link directory... give links to those sites which they recommend. They are not supposed to give link to anyone.... only selected sites. Means.... If your site have reciprocal link directory then....I suggest not to give link to everyone. And do not fill it with hundreds of thousands links.........just think which site you can recommend and give link. Now, go and get backlinks from some of them and grab similar one way links. This seems to be natural. --------------- Finally, NO ALL reciprocal links are bad. They have value if acquired properly and naturally. Also, NO ALL three way and one way links are good, if not acquired properly. ANY Kind of Link is Good If taken in natural way. Mate.... page to page reciprocal link could be good and site to site and site-site-site link may not.
When considering rumors related to linking and googles ratings, think of the following things: Would a leading website, such as cars.com, be linking out to sites that link back to it??? Would the ranking of such a site be effected if reciprocal links went away in worth??? Would one way links be devalued if they dont have the nofollow tag in them?? The answer is no to all 3. Leading sites have a great deal more sites linking to them than they are linking to... That is key. Also, those sites will still rank well if you take away the few reciprocals they might have. Lastly, purchased one way links will always be of value, unless they are obvious... and you will not get penalized for not having nofollow tags... That is the rumor Matt would like us to believe, but in the end, most authority sites are not going to go through and alter all their links to help google. That would be rediculous. I created http://www.sell-links.com with the purpose of helping people list links for sale automatically, but at the same time do so in a way where the links are not obviously sold. Check it out for more info on how to monetize via links that will not get you penalized with google!!
From what I know and have read about reciprocal link exchange is loosing value rapidly. Saying that doing it for one of my clients with strictly related links have brought him to the top of second page for a very competitive term on Google...
Reciprocal are not as powerful as they were. We are in 2007. The game is changing guys. You'd better learn a bit of LSI. I tell ya!
Recently, I've noted many link pages now has PR0 or Grey Bar... So, I think Reciprocal linking is on its way to slow death
So, you have a brand new website with good and unique content. What you gonna do to let the world know about it? Submit to several hundred directories (value? no value? I still don't know) Ask for link exchange with other related website ( and now Gman Cutt's is ranting that's no good) Buy Links or paid bloggin' (oh no! again see Cutt's rants) Social bookmarking (stumble, delicious, digg, usenet have the nofollow .. so it's kind of useless) So what do you do to get some visibility? Easy: Adwords. A fine Italian politician frequently says: " A pensar male si fa peccato ma 99% delle volte ci si azzecca (You SIN if you think bad, but 99% of times you are right)" Amen to that!!
