I'm thinking of making a deals site - I was wondering what most people thought the most pleasing/useful layout for a deals site is?

(I'm building something similar to bensbargains/slickdeals - except a different niche)

Well I havn't visited an american deals site in a while but I really like the layout of http://www.redflagdeals.com/

They have a ton of information on one page, yet it doesn't seem too over welming.

I just heard of a shoplocal.com mentioned on the tv. Have not checked it out.

Wow that redflag site is distracting - but it does have tons of info.

I think it totally depends on who your target audience is. Make your site taylored to their likes/dislikes etc.
