Dead page still ranking

I had a page on mysite.com/keyword.php which was ranked right where I wanted it. I decided to revamp the page and move it to the index. I placed a php 301 on the /keyword.php a few days ago but for some reason msn still has the old page ranked and cached. Is this not enough time to wait for MSN to update, or is the 301 confusing it or something.

Its been about 10 days now and the only thing that has happened is the old page (/keyword.php) which now contains the 301 has dropped completely from the rankings :(

I too still have large ammounts of pages indexed in msn which are no longer there. I changed my forum url structure. And msn still dont get it :)

Even google has problems with this type of thing though. So I dont really think it is something you can avoid.

There is a url removal console at google which can help. Otherwise a 301 and sitemap are the only ways.
