De-Indexing From Search Engines

I have removed close to 100 products from my web store which were indexed by Google. I had to remove the products due to some legal issues with the manufacturers here in India.

Now the problem is that i am receiving traffic for these products and the visitors were landing on the 404 page. I have redirected the 404 page to the front page of the store for the time being so it does not look bad to the visitor.

How do I immediately get Google to de-index these?

eventually those pages will be de-indexed by Google. why bother if you are still getting traffic to those pages and get them redirected? its bonus traffic anyways that will land on your homepage
