De index all my sites

    Hello there,

I started working on a site 1.5 years ago and didn't really mind that Google indexed it. So recently I added my analytics code to it and discovered that I acutally receive more than 200 unique users a day and that I got more than 2 000 indexed sites.

Is there a way to make google de-index them all as soon as possible, without harming my changes of getting indexed and ranked when I officially launch the site?

That will stop them for crawling, but will it make them de-index as well?

After few day's Google will automatically deindex your site if you block it from Robots.txt

And how will that affect my site when I let the crawlers in again?

To de index your site you can login to google webmaster tools and use the remove urls feature to remove your site.

if you ask google to de-index your site using the robots.txt you wont be indexed again unless you allow google to index your site again using the robots.txt

same as using the google webmaster tools

robots.txt is the best way to avoid indexing but for de indexing try searching "remove url webmasters tools google".

a bit risky if you plan to let google index it in the future (you might end up waiting for months before google comes back).
I would recommand that you leave access to at least the homepage and block the internal pages. At least this way google will know that the site is not dead and will be coming back for new pages.

I'd use robots.txt not url removals.

Not sure, but I think this will harm your site's search results ranking.

That's a bit complicated and somehow unnatural for Google.
I'm sure it will take a lot of time to deindex all sites.

deindexing really takes time, probably longer than indexing. use robots.txt and create another sitemap or use no index meta attrib

Yes you should use robot.txt to de-index.

I am not sure I understand why you want to de-index your site. It often takes a year for a site to rank well in Google. I think you are in a great position so that when you are ready you will have a much better change of ranking in the search engines.

If I were you I'll leave it as it is , just add "test site" on some pages and you can remove them when you ar ready to go.
