As you know, one can temporarily de-activate one's Twitter account but must re-activate it within a month, or else it gets terminated forever. I need to take a longer time off without losing my account. The only way I can think of is: (having had the account de-activated) to re-activate it just before the month runs out, maybe post a tweet or two (or perhaps not?) and then de-activate it again, and keep doing it several times until I decide to fully return. What do you think? Can it be done? Would Twitter react to it negatively? Ps. The reason why I want to de-activate the account, as opposed to just leaving it as it is, is that I don't want to have people unfollow me due to inactivity. Also, I don't want to be distracted by replies, mentions, etc.
