before i talk about the post, Im sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question! now.. i was just wondering.. will a dd2ram work fine with a p4 processor?
I would say yes, you just need to match the RAM with the mobo/CPU that you have. For instance my board supports DDR2 - PC3200, which is 400MHz (AMD CPU). go to the mobo MFG. and see which one yours runs!
If your mobo only supports ddr, then ddr2 won't work. It doesn't really matter about your processor, it is all in your mobo.
o damn i thought u were talking about dance dance revolution 2, i wanted to post this video from grandma's boy so bad: lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa6YfuL1vJE
I was thinking the same thing... See how video games have corrupted everything we think. The ram will be dependent on the mother board. I think for most 1st and 2nd generation p4's, they were made for DDR, and not the faster DDR2. I know the new core duos can take the new stuff.
It all depends on the socket of the mobo...for example...if I have a 939 socket mobo that supports ddr and a 939 socket processor, I can take that processor out and put it in a 939 mobo that supports ddr2 (like an SLI board). I could also take my 64 x2 and sub it will a regular 64 processor as long as the sockets were the same. What I am trying to say is that it is strictly what your mob will except, not processor.
It depends on motherboard, I have Intel D865 motherboard with Pentium-D processor and it has DDR2, My friend has Intel D845 motherboard with Pentium-4 Processor and he has DDR.
